The characteristics of PVC rubber products

The full name of PVC products is polyvinyl chloride. It is mainly polymerized by the compound vinyl chloride monomer and azo compound under high temperature. PVC materials can be synthesized into different types of products through polymer synthesis. Both PVC gifts and silicone gifts are common gifts in the market. The PVC material is mainly white powdery amorphous material with a density of about 1.3-1.5. The material is within 90 degrees of vitrification, and the maximum temperature resistance is 170 degrees. The temperature resistance effect is low, and it will automatically decompose into hydrogen chloride under high temperature conditions. If the temperature resistance range is exceeded, it will automatically catalyze the decomposition.

Conventional identification methods for PVC are generally summarized into the following three categories, namely:

(1) Identification of combustion method:

Softening or melting temperature range: 75~90°C;

Burning situation: self-extinguishing after being ignited;

Burning flame status: yellow up and green with smoke; after leaving the fire: extinguished after leaving the fire; smell: pungent sour.

This method is the easiest and most direct.

(2) Identification of solvent treatment:

Solvent: tetrahydrofuran, cyclohexanone, ketone, dimethylformamide;

Non-solvents: methanol, acetone, heptane.

By adding the suspected PVC plastic to the above solvent, observe the dissolution of the plastic to determine whether it is PVC. After the solvent is heated, the dissolving effect will be more obvious.
